The land of Latvia was densely covered with trees, as I looked outside the window on the flight to Riga. Since that moment, I've wanted to go deep inside of the Latvian forests at least once, so when a friend told me he was going to forests, I begged him to let me join his trip. Obviously, he had to take photos of Latvian forests to show them to Norwegian film producers, who are seeking alternative settings to Norwegian forests, which apparently cost a huge amount of money to get the permission to shot films there. The Norwegians want a fairy-tale-like setting. Cool.
Within less than an hour of drive from Riga, we arrived at the forest. Once leaving Riga, forests could be seen from both sides of the car, but we came to this specific one, which has a waterway on its side.
Forests are mystical place. Forests are home to incredibly many species of vegetation, fruits, bugs, and animals, which create a unique world inside where they all live together. It's also the long years the forests have gone through that make them keep a special kind of energy inside. No wonder that a number of stories, folklore, and old songs have been inspired by forests and created on its influences throughout many years.
Wonders are seen everywhere.
Look up.
And don't forget to see what's underneath your feet that feel like cushions filled with straws.
Latvians believe there is a soul in every living creature. I'm curious what kind of soul would be living in these tress. Whatever it is, it must have quite some characters. Look what charisma these trees have got.
The best thing about a camera is that it helps you focus all your visual attention on one object at a time. And of course, there is no place better than forests to look at everything with a close focus and be amazed.
